Japanese Curry Potatoes

Curry was originated from Indian cuisine and started to introduce in Japan by British during Indian Subcontinent rule by British Emperor. It is started popular in Japanese Cuisine in early twentieth century. The difference between Indian and Japanese curry is the sweetness and spices they used as they recipes. In Japanese curry they used bay leaves instead curry leaves in Indian cuisine.


Blended Ingredients | 混合成分

100 ml water | 100 毫升 水

57 gram Tomato [Peel off skin and seed] | 57 公克 番茄[去皮和种子]

100 gram Apple [Peel off skin and seed] | 100 公克 苹果[去皮和种子]

[Mix all in the blender and blended  | 将所有配料放入搅拌机中并捣碎]


Other Ingredients | 其他成分

1 tbsp margarine |  1 汤匙 人造黄油

1 1/2 tbsp plain flour | 1 1/2 汤匙 普通面粉

2 tbsp curry powder | 2 汤匙 咖喱粉

300 ml Water | 300 毫升 水

150 gram Potato | 150 公克 马铃薯

150 gram carrot |  150 公克 胡萝卜

1 Pcs Bay Leaf | 1 个 月桂叶


Seasoning | 调味料

1/4 tsp salt | 1/4 茶匙 盐

1/4 tsp seasoning | 1/4 茶匙 调味料


Frying Batter | 煎炸面糊

1 1/2 tbsp Tempura flour | 1 1/2汤匙天妇罗面粉

1 1/2 tbsp Wheat flour | 1 1/2汤匙小麦粉

50-70 ml water | 50-70 毫升 水

[mix all in bowl and whisk well | 将所有混合物放入碗中搅拌均匀]


Frying Ingredients | 油炸成分

3-4 pieces oyster mushroom | 3-4片 牡蛎蘑菇

1 cup of bread crumbs | 1 杯 面包屑

2 tbsp wheat flour | 2汤匙小麦粉


Method  (A) | 方法 (A)

1. Melt margarine in a wok then add in plain flour and stir well with low heat for 1-2 minutes.

[在炒锅中融化人造黄油,加入普通面粉,用小火煮好1-2分钟]

2. Then add in curry powder and continue stir well with low heat until it become paste.

[然后加入咖喱粉,继续用小火搅拌均匀,直至变成糊状]

3. Pour in water together with potato, carrot and bay leaf. Then cover the lid and let it boil with low heat for 20 minutes until the carrot and potato turn soften.

[倒入水,然后加入土豆,胡萝卜和月桂叶。盖上盖子,用小火煮沸20分钟,直到土豆和胡萝卜变软]

4. After that add in blended ingredients together with seasoning and continue boil until the gravy turn thicker. It takes about 30-40 minutes.

[之后加入混合成分和调味料,继续煮沸,直到肉汁变浓。大约需要30-40分钟]


Method (B) | 方法 (A)

1. Coated oyster mushroom with some wheat flour, then dipping in frying batter and coated some bread crumbs.

[用一些小麦粉涂上牡蛎蘑菇,然后浸在油炸面糊中,并涂上一些面包屑]

2. Now it is ready to deep frying until crispy and crunchy.
